ROCK in the morning is always packed full of notices, spiritual guidance, in line with our Christian Core Values and current affairs. The themes of the week are always thought provoking.

This important session (a session that some schools no longer deem important or relevant enough to have) ensures students have a consistent start to the day. It also gives students an opportunity to celebrate success and raise any concerns and issues they may have, with their tutor.

Recently I popped into Mrs Bloor’s’ form who were watching Newsround. I asked them whether it was part of the week’s ROCK sessions and was delighted to be told that they had covered their ROCK slides at pace to allow time to watch it before Period One.

Please ask your children what they have learned in ROCK as well as their lessons. As I have said before, try not to accept the answer “stuff” or a shrug. I can promise you that they do care about their studies and your encouragement will prove a fundamental element to their future success.
