Curriculum Overview

  • A vision for each subject in its own right – staff and students need to be aware of the character and value of each subject specialism
  • Progression model – we are aware of the need for the curriculum to be an aid to and a clear demonstrator of progression within our subjects​
  • A rich curriculum that ensures all students access and remember ambitious knowledge, but it is essential that this knowledge is not simply a series of disconnected facts. ​
  • Sequencing for progression – students are taken on a meaningful journey​.
  • Explanation and practice – through high quality teaching knowledge must be taught clearly and memorably, and students must be given time to think and focus on this knowledge​.
  • Reading for knowledge and pleasure – covering both the core and the Hinterland​.
  • Cultural curriculum enhancement – activities such as trips to enhance and reinforce cultural appreciation and subject knowledge.
