Operation Encompass Safeguarding Statement
Our school is part of Operation Encompass, a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership that supports children and young people who experience domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass enables the police to share information with our school following a domestic abuse incident to which they have been called. This information is shared prior to the next school day so that appropriate support can be provided to any child affected.
All Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), known as Key Adults within Operation Encompass, have attended local briefings and completed national Operation Encompass training.
Parents and carers are informed that we are an Operation Encompass school. Information received through Operation Encompass is stored securely and managed in accordance with safeguarding, child protection, and data protection requirements.
The Key Adult has provided training and briefings to all staff and governors on Operation Encompass, including the prevalence and impact of domestic abuse on children and young people. Staff are also made aware of the support that may be required following an Operation Encompass notification.
The Safeguarding Governor receives regular updates on the implementation of Operation Encompass and reports to the Governing Board through termly safeguarding reports. All information included in these reports is fully anonymised.
The Key Adult uses the Operation Encompass Toolkit to ensure that all appropriate actions and support measures are implemented following notifications received by the school.
